On 10 October, the talk \u201cThe Skins I Inhabit\u201d was held, organised by La Companyia Verda and Re-pera Ecoeventos. This initiative was born out of a desire to spread awareness about topics as important and necessary as our health and the health of the planet.\nThe skins I inhabit represent all those layers that protect us in one way or another and nourish us day to day. Our home as our third skin, our clothes as our second skin, our skin itself, and our gut as our inner skin. Caring for each of them and their wellbeing depends on our habits and knowledge.\nIn bioconstruction -where we design and build healthy, environmentally friendly spaces- all these skins are valued and taken into account, since they interact with one another and are a fundamental part of the quality of the indoor space. On every project we can advise on how to improve certain everyday aspects, but the responsibility for putting them into practice lies with each individual.\nThe idea for the talk was born from the desire to reach as many people as possible -who don’t necessarily need a bioconstruction project- with all this information, in a purely informative spirit. To do this, we got in touch with professionals specialised in each of the skins, all of them sensitive, entrepreneurial, hard-working women looking for healthy and sustainable solutions. This is how the group came together, and the result was very positive and inspiring.\nEach of them spoke about the subject they know best, focusing on health-related topics:\nCarolina Sayes from La Companyia Verda<\/a><\/span>, an architect specialising in bioconstruction and healthy homes, told us about how walls, floors and ceilings and their layers work, the materials they are made of, the excessive amount of plastic surrounding us and its effects on air quality and indoor spaces.<\/p>\n\n

Sylvia Calvo from Sylvia Calvo Bcn<\/a><\/span>, a sustainable fashion designer, told us about landfills full of unworn clothes and the clothes we throw away, the negative impact of the textile industry on the environment, the chemical compounds found in clothing, eco-friendly alternatives and the change that is coming with the circular economy.\nGala M\u00e9ndez from Vegala<\/span><\/a>, a natural cosmetics specialist and owner of the first 100% vegan shop, told us about the functions the skin performs and how it is affected by everything we put on it, about cosmetic products and the substances they contain, about endocrine disruptors and their long-term cumulative effect and, of course, about natural cosmetics, why to buy them and what their labels tell us.\nPatricia Ortega from Patricia Ortega Nutrici\u00f3n<\/span><\/a>, told us about diet and non-communicable diseases, about what is organic, healthy and sustainable, and about the care needed when choosing a product.\nRegina from Re-pera<\/a><\/span> -exclusively eco-friendly events- took care of the whole organisation -venue, media, refreshments, photographer and much more-.\nThe illustration designed to promote the event was created by The Wild<\/span> Rocks<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\nFor La Companyia Verda<\/span><\/strong><\/a> it was a wonderful experience, and for the rest of The Skins I Inhabit team too, so…\nWe’ll do it again!\nWe’ll keep you posted, and in the meantime get informed, take care of yourself and take care!<\/strong>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
